So I have realized with just having to re-read a few posts to see where I left you (my imaginary reader) off at, that I really need to get better about posting. It would be nice to be able to post without recapping everything that has happened. So here is a toast to this hopefully, but most likely not, the last post with a recap of what you missed while I wasn't blogging......
So what has happened between mid-June and the first week of October you ask?! Just a mere 14 weeks?! Well we took the two siblings to Z while foster mom was on respite/vacation for a little while. That was supposed to be for 2 weeks, ended up lasting a few days before one threatened to kill Lori and herself and with no backing from anyone, we had to ask that they be removed. Went to court on August 21st for Z's trial thinking Mom would have to adhere to a case plan but instead the court closed the case, threw it out and handed all 3 kids back to mom. We took Z back to mom on the 22nd and by the 30th she had fled the state with all three to avoid a neglect case. I don't want to talk about it.
About the same time as that was happening, we got a permanency date of T's 1st birthday, so basically a date for an adoption hearing, YAY!!! not 2 days later we find out that miraculously out of nowhere family has been found in OK that wants him and is not giving up. So that's a whole different topic I don't want to talk about but for now he is here and who knows when all of the paperwork will be done for him to move to OK but he is 8 months old today and doing fabulous!!! He is the light of our lives and our son so enough said about that.
So on September 18th, we got a call to take a 12 day old boy C and his 3.5 year old sister M. We of course said YES!!! It's an odd situation, one that I feel mom should be able to get her kids back unless a bunch of scary stuff comes to light but we are being told it is a very slim chance she will and all family has been vetted and is currently ineligible to take them so they may be long term and possibly permanent.
C: Currently a 1 month old baby boy, exactly 7 months younger, to the day, than T. Very fussy, angry and pained, this poor guy came to us being breastfed, which is wonderful but when that's not an option a bit of hit or miss when it comes to formula. We have him on hypo-allergenic, with rice cereal and gas drops because of his acid reflux being SO bad. We have had an ultra-sound and are going on Wednesday to a GI doctor to do a measure of the significance and see if surgery or meds will help. He is very sweet and cute in the brief moments of the day when he is not colicky and fussy.
M: a 3.5 year old girl who is so good and well behaved! She is potty trained, has manners, listens, basically every foster parents dream! A few days into being with us she developed a sinus infection and has been under the weather but a dream kid to welcome into our lives. She is so appreciative of everything, never asks for anything, and other than a moment of food issues, she has been great. She came with about 2 pounds of beads and about a thousand braids in her hair which were very cute but when they were ready to come out, a pain in the ass. She was awesome as she sat for FOUR hours to take them out and loves her pigtails!
Ok, so BTW, I'm a white girl who is really more black than you'd think. But learning how to do hair, I have a feeling that will be many a blog post in and of itself.
